Ellie is a Printmaker and artist based near Guildford, England. In 2001 she gained a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration and worked ever since as a graphic designer/illustrator. She has always had a passion for art and throughout the years of working and bringing up children she continued to paint and develop her printmaking practice.
She has struggled in my life with alcohol addiction and in 2014 she began her recovery which slowly gave her a new perspective on life. Ellie tries to be open about this because there is such a stigma in society about female sufferers of addiction and she believes that it helps to talk about it. Her art is an intrinsic part of her recovery and new life. In 2017 she made the decision to get more serious about her artistic career. She still works part time as a graphic designer but spends all the time she possibly can in her home studio. So far this year she has sold her Lino prints at craft fairs and her online shop and has had her paintings exhibited in Guildford and Farnham. She was selected for the 2018 Epsom and Ewell Contemporary Art Fair 2018. She is still evolving and finding her direction as an artist, and right now she is exploring more figurative work which she is very excited about. She thinks her experience as a designer helps her as an artist in terms of composition and use of colour but she tries to paint in a free, expressive style. She is always trying to find the right balance between her approach as an artist and designer.
Life has taught me that it’s never too late to follow your dream and to be the person you were always meant to be.
