Q + A with Dyan Brisson

Dyan creates handmade jewelry out of her home in Greenland, NH using paper and resin, a two part compound that hardens for a glossy finished result. Her unique style also adheres to an audience who are looking for a specific product they can't find elsewhere. She works closely with her followers to create the best and most dearest piece of jewelry close to their heart.

It is very hard to promote oneself and build a website. I would rather be creating something pretty.

1. What inspired you to get into jewelry making?

I was looking for something new to express my creativity. I thought the beads and gems would be perfect and it led me on the path to making resin jewelry.

2. What are some challenges you face with your work?

The biggest challenge is getting people to see what goes into crafting the pieces I create. It is so easy now to just go to Kohl’s, or Walmart and buy something for $5. It’s hard to price competitively and actually get people to buy.

Getting help with spreading the word is also a challenge. It is very hard to promote oneself and build a website. I would rather be creating something pretty.

3. What style of jewelry would you categorize yourself?

That’s hard. I really have A.D.D. when it comes to my creations. I make anything from earrings to jewelry boxes to coasters .

90% has resin, so I would categorize it as Resin Art / Jewelry.

4. What is the most rewarding thing when it comes to making jewelry?

Seeing the finished product and knowing it came out exactly if not better than I imagined it would. Seeing someone wear what I created is the biggest boost and compliment.

5. What is next for you in 2018?

I am still working on my website! I have been neglecting it a bit and need to refocus. I also have a craft fair I signed up for at The Budweiser Brewery in Merrimack N.H. on September 23rd. There will be about 100 vendors. Come out and see me!
