1. Your subject matter of planets and galaxies is so unique! What made you first interested in painting this subject?

Thank you! I have always loved to paint inspired by nature. A few years ago I painted my first galaxy in memory of someone special. I felt so passionate about creating this painting that afterwards all I wanted to paint were more galaxies. I love the night sky, and I love to star gaze. Painting watercolour galaxies fills me with happiness, and I really enjoy researching names of stars and constellations to inspire my paintings. I also love to paint large experimental seascapes as well - nature is always my inspiration.

2. When did you decide to become a painter?

I think I've always loved painting. I studied Textiles at College, and after that took another year to do an all round Art course. It was there that I fell completely in love with painting and so went on to study it at University.

3. What struggles do you face? How do you deal with them?

Time - I have a permanent job for most of the week with one day off to paint. This has been my biggest challenge to find time to paint, but I think I've finally got that balance now.

4. What is your creative process?

I love letting paints guide me. I choose the colours, the inspiration and the mediums but I love to let the paint choose it's path and help create the image. I try not to over think and to let my creativity flow.

5. What's next for you in 2018?

Hopefully more painting! This is the first year I've really focused on my painting so fingers crossed I can keep going on this creative journey!
